Applying the roll pattern paint over the stringers is difficult: it's very easy to get paint bleeding beneath the masking tape (or brushed-on mask). Apogee suggests outlining the black areas with permanent marker, then taping over the outline, so any bleed-through will be black-on-black. I tried that here: you can see the nice black line. I didn't like the results of this technique: the marker itself bled badly and didn't give a nice, sharp line.
